Managing Your Personal Finances : Grolier Business Library
Insert "money" for "wealth" and that statement is what this book is all about. As a result of teaching personal financial management to adults at evening classes, I believe I understand which aspects of the subject are of greatest interest. Some of what I have to say you may already be aware of, but even with well-known matters, such as insurance, I hope to introduce to you a few ideas which are not common knowledge. Furthermore, bearing in mind the size limitations for a book on such a vast subject, I intend to show you how to find out more, usually at no cost apart from a stamp or telephone charge. This is a book for dipping into rather than wading through from beginning to end. However, it does follow a logical order, with a chapter on financial strategy near the beginning which brings togetherand links many of the succeeding chapters. The financial world is always changing and the information in the book can only be up to date when written; always check. Some figures are liable to change annually in the budget. As far as appropriate I have left these out and instead shown how to find them. Where they are included I have used the word "current" to indicate the need to check. This edition includes the changes proposed in the March 1998 budget, which might be amended before approval is given by Parliament.
